Job Description
Vates is a French software company specializing in Open Source and virtualization, with a strong commitment to open and collaborative development. Our main projects, Xen Orchestra and XCP-ng, cover the entire virtualization stack — from the hypervisor (Xen) and the virtualization platform (XCP-ng) to virtual machine management and backup (Xen Orchestra). Our company operates in an international environment, working fully remotely, fluent English required.
Your Responsibilities
- Optimize the performance and reliability of XAPI
- Participate in technical decisions and solution architecture
- Develop prototypes and technical demonstrations to validate new features
- Analyze and resolve technical issues identified on XAPI
- Define and implement corrective actions required to ensure product stability and performance
- Provide application support and maintenance related to XAPI and XCP-ng
- Delineate the technical roadmap of XAPI
- Develop and maintain APIs
- Ensure the quality, consistency, and security of XAPI data
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Write technical and functional documentation
- Package and deploy the XAPI component within XCP-ng
- Write automated tests
- Collaborate with stakeholders involved in the XAPI project, as well as with teams from other organizations such as XenServer
Required Skills
- Expertise in the OCaml programming language
- Proficiency in Git/GitHub
- Experience with testing environments (Jenkins/pytest)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement approach

Location
Our offices are based in Grenoble or Paris, but we operate on a fully remote model to provide greater flexibility and daily work comfort. You are free to work 100% remotely or come on-site occasionally, depending on your preferences.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree to a Master's degree in Computer Science, software engineering, software development, or information systems with 2 to 5 years of experience on development projects in OCaml. Or several years of experience without a degree. Professional experience in development within an open source environment is appreciated. Fluent English.
