About Us

Inception Technology is at the forefront of derivatives market intelligence, reshaping how trading firms, corporations, and government entities engage with the Derivatives markets. As a pioneering technology startup, we specialize in leveraging creative models & analytics to deliver advanced risk insights. Our solutions empower our clients to navigate the complexities of the derivatives markets with strategic foresight. Through our platform, partners gain actionable intelligence that drives effective decision-making and competitive advantage.

Role Overview

We are looking for an intern who can read a factor model paper at breakfast, spot the flaws by lunch, and prototype a better version by end of day. In this role, you will work on quantitative research for futures and derivatives markets, with a strong focus on commodities. You will read academic papers, challenge existing models, prototype new approaches, and help turn research ideas into analytics features used by market participants. This is a hands-on opportunity to apply quantitative research, statistical modeling, and optimization techniques to build factor models and analytics tools for derivatives markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Academic Research Modeling: Develop and refine quantitative models for futures markets, especially commodities futures, by combining academic research with practical market constraints.
  • Futures Data and Analysis: Manipulate and analyze futures time series, curve structures, volume, liquidity, open interest, and commodity market dynamics.
  • Modeling: Develop, test, and improve mathematical models, optimization algorithms, and backtesting frameworks for long/short style factors.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize statistical and quantitative methods to analyze datasets, identifying patterns and actionable insights.
  • Collaborative Development: Work with engineering and analytics to turn your research into production features, not just slides.
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing research findings, methodologies, and strategic implications.

What We Are Looking For

  • Educational Background: Final-year Master's student or recent graduate from a leading engineering school or university program in applied mathematics, statistics, financial engineering, or quantitative finance. Gap-year students are welcome if they have relevant academic or professional exposure to market finance.
  • Quantitative Skills: Experience in Futures & Factor analysis, quantitative macro strategies, and statistical modeling.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and experience with research & backtesting environments.
  • Analytical Mindset: Exceptional problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills applied to financial data and modeling.
  • Builder Mentality: You'd rather build a rough prototype tonight than write a perfect spec next week. You own problems end-to-end.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to articulate complex quantitative concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Challenge & Defend: Stress-test existing models and assumptions. We expect you to break things.

Growth Opportunities

  • Expertise Development: Deepen your knowledge in quantitative finance and derivatives markets through hands-on research and development projects.
  • Innovation Impact: Contribute to the advancement of our solution, directly impacting solution features and capabilities.
  • Professional Networking: Build relationships with industry professionals in commodity trading and hedge funds, enhancing your professional network and market expertise.
  • Long-Term Opportunity: This internship is designed as a potential path to a full-time position. Outstanding performance and strong mutual fit may lead to a CDI offer at the end of the internship.

What's In It for You

  • Compensation: Receive an attractive financial remuneration, ensuring you are well-compensated for your contributions.
  • Comprehensive Compensation: Enjoy a full suite of health insurance benefits, wellness programs, flexible leave policies, and an amazing office in Paris, close to Place de l'Étoile.
  • Innovative Environment: Collaborate in a dynamic startup setting where your ideas are valued and you can make a tangible impact on our SaaS platform and analytics solutions.
  • Hybrid Working Flexibility: Benefit from a flexible work environment that balances remote and in-office work.

Inception Technology is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals.

If you are passionate about quantitative finance, modeling, optimization, and developing innovative risk solutions, and eager to make a tangible impact in the derivatives markets, we invite you to apply for this internship opportunity.
