Telespazio Belgium also provides on-site services at ESA HQ in Paris, France. We are seeking a highly skilled PA & Safety Support Engineer to join our team there.
Candidates must be eligible for a security personal clearance from an EU Member State national security administration.
What Is Expected From You
You will be integrated into the Product Assurance and Safety Office, supporting ESA Programs and activities within the Directorate of Space Transportation.
Duties
In support of ESA PA&Safety Managers (PAM) and in close collaboration with other PA and RAMS officers, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to the establishment of PA&S requirements baselines for designated project elements, adhering to ESA's general Product Assurance and Safety policy.
- Producing and implementing ESA project PA&S plans.
- Verifying PA&S requirements fulfillment and ensuring the proper application of Management Specifications in line with applicable PA & management rules.
- Reviewing contractor plans, specifications, and proposed efforts for PA&S programs to assess their performance and effectiveness. This includes ensuring PA&S requirements are adequately addressed by the prime contractor and throughout the contractual chain, and proposing necessary preventive and corrective actions.
- Assessing the implementation of PA&S requirements by contractors during program/project reviews (PRRs, PDRs, CDRs, QR, KPs) and managing associated actions/recommendations. Producing monthly reports detailing assessment activities (e.g., documents reviewed, checklists used, spot checks performed).
- Supporting projects in preparing for and following up on development reviews. This involves organizing documentation key points, participating in project reviews as a Quality animator, contributing to design, acceptance (TRR, TRB, ...), and safety reviews, and managing related preventive/corrective actions.
- Monitoring project & PA status, identifying relevant PA issues (including NCRs, Waivers, Problems, Critical Items), and systematically tracking all items. Producing monthly reports on monitoring activities (e.g., inspections, checks, visits, reviews), including conclusions and recommendations.
- Controlling NCRs, Waivers, Problems, and Critical Items. This includes preparing meeting agendas, ensuring all necessary inputs and participants are available for NRB or CCB meetings, producing meeting minutes, following up on identified actions, and ensuring proper non-conformance/waiver/problem/critical item close-out. Producing reports on control activities performed.
- Guiding and monitoring the application and procurement of EEE parts, materials, and processes. Controlling the implementation of applicable requirements by participating in the Material and Process Control Board (MPCB) and Electronic Component Evaluation Board (ECEB).
- Potentially responsible for project RAMS management activities status and participating in safety files as necessary. Preparing relevant PA and RAMS documentation, ensuring the execution and implementation of related analyses.
- Monitoring manufacturing, integration, and test activities through quality assurance audits, mandatory and key inspection points, test witnessing, and configuration inspections. Producing activity reports with conclusions and recommendations.
- Contributing to defining formal acceptance requirements, conducting Acceptance Reviews of all contractual deliverable items, and guiding necessary follow-up actions.
- Organizing quality inquiries as necessary, with support from the Project Technical Office and PA&S Office.
- Arranging and coordinating support from Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality experts for PA&S responsibilities.
- Ensuring the implementation of software PA requirements, utilizing software PA support as appropriate.
- Other tasks within the PA/S domain may arise based on project needs.
- Frequent missions within Europe (and French Guiana) may be required.
What You Offer
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering field and a minimum of 4 years of pertinent experience.
- Significant experience in the PA&S discipline as applied to space projects.
- Experience in technical domains such as launchers and spacecraft technologies.
- Understanding of related technologies, R&D trends, and the industrial landscape.
- Experience in managing and monitoring industrial activities, including participation in reviews.
- Knowledge of Configuration Management or the implementation of Product Assurance within an ISO 9001 certified quality system would be advantageous.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English and French.
