Embedded Electronic Systems Architect

iO Associates are currently partnered with a leading organisation within the space and satellite sector, supporting their search for an Embedded Electronic Systems Architect to join their growing engineering function based in Toulouse. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across both satellite programmes and aerial platforms, contributing to the development of advanced avionics systems.

Location: Toulouse, France

Contract Type: Permanent

Work Environment: Hybrid / On-site (multi-site working)

Salary: €80,000 - €85,000 per annum + additional benefits

Key responsibilities

  • Defining avionics architectures across satellite and aerial platforms
  • Specifying electrical interfaces, energy budgets and power distribution
  • Developing low-level communication protocols, data flows and bandwidth allocations
  • Managing system timing, synchronisation and signal propagation
  • Supporting the definition, monitoring and validation of EGSE systems
  • Interfacing with equipment suppliers to ensure system compatibility and performance
  • Investigating anomalies and supporting system-level troubleshooting activities
  • Collaborating with software and flight systems teams to define HW/SW interactions and operational modes
  • Supporting hardware/software integration and AIT avionics activities
  • Contributing to validation and qualification of avionics functional chains
  • Participating in project reviews, technical discussions and progress reporting
  • Supporting pre-sales activities and contributing to the development of innovative technical proposals

What You Bring

  • 5+ years experience in satellite avionics architecture and/or real-time embedded systems
  • Strong understanding of electronic systems and embedded programming
  • Experience with power systems (e.g. EPS, solar arrays or similar)
  • Knowledge of mixed-signal electronics
  • Familiarity with electrical standards such as LVTTL, LVDS, RS485/422
  • Experience with low-level communication protocols (e.g. SpaceWire, UART or similar)
  • Understanding of RF systems is beneficial
  • Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
