Embedded Electronic Systems Architect
iO Associates are currently partnered with a leading organisation within the space and satellite sector, supporting their search for an Embedded Electronic Systems Architect to join their growing engineering function based in Toulouse. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across both satellite programmes and aerial platforms, contributing to the development of advanced avionics systems.
Location: Toulouse, France
Contract Type: Permanent
Work Environment: Hybrid / On-site (multi-site working)
Salary: €80,000 - €85,000 per annum + additional benefits
Key responsibilities
- Defining avionics architectures across satellite and aerial platforms
- Specifying electrical interfaces, energy budgets and power distribution
- Developing low-level communication protocols, data flows and bandwidth allocations
- Managing system timing, synchronisation and signal propagation
- Supporting the definition, monitoring and validation of EGSE systems
- Interfacing with equipment suppliers to ensure system compatibility and performance
- Investigating anomalies and supporting system-level troubleshooting activities
- Collaborating with software and flight systems teams to define HW/SW interactions and operational modes
- Supporting hardware/software integration and AIT avionics activities
- Contributing to validation and qualification of avionics functional chains
- Participating in project reviews, technical discussions and progress reporting
- Supporting pre-sales activities and contributing to the development of innovative technical proposals
What You Bring
- 5+ years experience in satellite avionics architecture and/or real-time embedded systems
- Strong understanding of electronic systems and embedded programming
- Experience with power systems (e.g. EPS, solar arrays or similar)
- Knowledge of mixed-signal electronics
- Familiarity with electrical standards such as LVTTL, LVDS, RS485/422
- Experience with low-level communication protocols (e.g. SpaceWire, UART or similar)
- Understanding of RF systems is beneficial
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
