About The Role
We're looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to define and execute our infrastructure vision while staying hands-on day to day. You'll lead a small team responsible for reliability, scalability, security, and developer productivity across our cloud and CI/CD stack. This role reports to the Head of Engineering and partners closely with Product and Engineering teams to help us ship faster with confidence.
What you'll do:
- Own the DevOps/Platform vision and roadmap: reliability targets, scalability strategy, security posture, and cost-efficiency
- Lead and grow the DevOps team: coaching, setting high execution standards, and creating clear rituals (planning, on-call, incident reviews)
- Stay hands-on: design, implement, and operate core infrastructure (Kubernetes, cloud networking, CI/CD, observability, secrets management)
- Build and maintain strong delivery pipelines: CI, CD, environments, release processes, and safe deployment practices (feature flags, rollbacks, progressive delivery)
- Raise the bar on reliability: SLOs/SLIs, on-call practices, incident response, postmortems, and proactive risk reduction
- Drive observability end to end: metrics, logs, traces, alerting quality, and actionable dashboards
- Partner with engineering squads to improve developer experience: local/staging parity, tooling, golden paths, documentation, and self-service
- Manage cloud cost trade-offs pragmatically, keeping speed and reliability high while controlling spend
Requirements
What we're looking for:
Must Have:
- 10+ years of experience in DevOps/SRE/Platform roles, including leading a team
- Strong experience operating production systems on a major cloud provider (AWS/GCP/Azure). We are using GCP
- Deep knowledge of modern infrastructure patterns: containers/Kubernetes, IaC (Terraform), CI/CD, observability, and incident management
- Proven ability to set direction and execute hands-on, from design through production operations
- Strong communication and prioritization skills, able to align stakeholders and make pragmatic trade-offs
Nice to Have:
- Experience with high-throughput, real-time, or voice/communications workloads
- Strong security engineering instincts (IAM, network segmentation, secrets, vulnerability management)
- Experience building internal platform products (self-serve deployments, templates, developer portals)
- FinOps experience (cost attribution, unit economics, capacity planning)
