Job Description

Deezer's Listeners team develops the applications millions of users interact with daily for their music experience. The team crafts reliable and delightful experiences to activate, retain, and thrill our users. Our teams are structured into cross-functional, mission-driven squads, each with clear objectives and significant autonomy. Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, and QA Partners collaborate within these squads to deliver impactful features efficiently.

As an iOS Team Manager, you will manage a team of iOS engineers integrated into various product squads, contribute to Deezer's iOS technical vision alongside senior engineers, and lead one squad in close partnership with Product and Design to deliver impactful features.

Among your responsibilities, you will:

  • Inspire, drive, and grow a motivated team of iOS engineers through regular 1:1s, coaching, constructive feedback, and career development discussions.
  • Foster cohesion and collaboration within a team distributed across different product squads, ensuring knowledge sharing and preventing isolated work.
  • Serve as the engineering lead for a product squad, partnering with the Product Manager to co-define objectives, identify technical constraints and opportunities early, challenge solutions for greater impact, and drive delivery.
  • Own technical execution within your squad: manage timelines, handle dependencies, openly escalate risks, and collaborate with stack experts to validate approaches.
  • Drive team culture and rituals, ensuring participation, continuous improvement, and follow-through across your squad and the broader iOS team.
  • Ensure quality and engineering best practices, adapting working methods to team needs and project phases.
  • Collaborate with your Engineering Manager and the iOS Community of Practice to shape and evolve Deezer's iOS technical vision, ensuring alignment across stacks.
  • Partner with Senior and Expert iOS Engineers to guide architectural choices and code quality throughout Deezer's iOS ecosystem.

Qualifications

People Leadership:

  • Previous experience managing a team of software engineers.
  • Ability to build trust, create psychological safety, and maintain team cohesion, even with members distributed across different squads.

Product & Delivery:

  • Proven experience collaborating closely with Product Managers in a cross-functional setting, co-owning objectives and planning.
  • Ability to connect engineering work to business goals and consider product impact when making technical trade-offs.
  • Pragmatic and delivery-oriented, capable of balancing ambition with realistic planning.

Technical Foundation:

  • Solid iOS development background; a strong understanding of the platform to make sound technical decisions and support engineers with their daily challenges.
  • Familiarity with mobile engineering best practices, architectural patterns, and code quality standards.
  • Ability to balance a modern engineering vision with the realities of an existing codebase, making pragmatic trade-offs as needed.
